The Redmane Knights
'A record of crafting techniques left by an armorer who served the great general Radahn. Contains knowledge of dealing with rot; the application of fire in particular. Acquire the knowledge to craft the following: -Roped Fire Pot, -Trina's Lily.' The Redmane Knights are the personal cavalry corps of General Radahn, the gravity-magic demigod son of Rennala and Radagon. They were red-haired by oath, lion-cloaked by uniform, and trained in the art of fire-on-rot, fighting with torches and pyromancies because the rot Malenia released at Aeonia infected steel and bone equally. Their crafting cookbook is the canon's only surviving anti-rot field manual.
'This Ash of War grants an armament the Heavy affinity and the following skill: Lion's Claw: Skill of the Redmanes, who fought alongside General Radahn. Somersault forwards, striking foes with armament held overhead. Strong attack follow-up with overhead swing.' Lion's Claw, the signature ash of war, is the Redmanes' melee solution to the same rot-saturated battlefield. The somersault attack moves the warrior through rot-mist faster than the rot can take hold ; the armament-overhead landing distributes weight in a way that gravity-magic could amplify. After Radahn's defeat at the Festival of Combat, the Redmanes did not disperse. They fortified Redmane Castle, the eastern citadel of Caelid, and held it against the rot for centuries. Their commander Jerren, oath-bound to give Radahn an honourable death, is the last named Redmane of the canon.
