The Haima Conspectus

Adjudicator of Raya Lucaria, who quells conflict with cannon fire and the gavel

'One of the glintstone sorceries of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Drawn from the scholarly conspectus of Haima, the adjudicator of the academy, this sorcery employs might as a means to quell conflict.' The Haima Conspectus is the academy's juridical wing, the lineage of scholars who, when conflict arose, did not retreat behind sealed gates the way Karolos and Olivinus did but went out armed and ended the dispute by force. Their canonical sorcery is the Gavel of Haima : a glintstone hammer-spell that descends on the disputed matter to settle it. Their argument is that an academy that recuses itself from violence is just escape.

'One of the glintstone sorceries of the Academy of Raya Lucaria. Lobs an explosive magic projectile that flies in an arc. Charging enhances potency. Drawn from the conspectus of Haima, the adjudicator of the academy, this sorcery employs might as a means to quell conflict.' The Cannon of Haima is the conspectus's broader instrument. Its scholars carry it onto fields whose belligerents they will mediate by reducing the fight to one side, the wrong one, in the conspectus's judgment. Battlemage Hugues was a graduate of this lineage who, after years of mediating fire, began to crave it ; the canonical irony is that Haima's discipline of conflict-quelling is the only academy lineage that produces scholars who become war-lovers. The conspectus's seclusion-as-escape critique applied, in retrospect, to itself.
