The merchant economy of the dead, deposited at the Roundtable for the Twin Maidens to dispense

The Bell Bearings
'Battered iron armor from a foreign land. Worn by Elemer of the Briar. The winding, rusted iron briars are a mark of the guilty, and typically indicate a sentence of death. Elemer murdered numerous instructors and merchants, and was known as the Bell Bearing Hunter.' The Bell-Bearing economy is the canon's quietest banking system. Every merchant in the Lands Between, Kalé at the Church of Elleh, the bone-peddler in Limgrave, the meat-peddler at the Caelid border, every nomadic merchant whose caravan once survived, dies at some point in the campaign, and the bell-bearing on their corpse is the proof of their inventory. The Tarnished delivers it to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold, who from then on offer the dead merchant's stock at the same prices the merchant did.
'Bell bearing of an unfortunate bone peddler who was slain by the Bell Bearing Hunter. Offer to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to gain access to the following items: - Thin Animal Bones - Hefty Beast Bone.' The Bell Bearing Hunter is the canonical antagonist of this system : a foreign-armoured executioner named Elemer of the Briar who specialises in murdering merchants and instructors. Each Hunter the Tarnished slays in his three Sites-of-Grace appearances yields a Hunter's Bearing in return. The merchants Elemer killed are the merchants whose stock the Twin Maidens can finally restock once Elemer himself is dead. The bell-bearing economy thereby self-completes : its mass-murderer becomes its last supplier, posthumously and unwillingly.
