◈ ORDERThe Erdtree Avatars
Guardians of the Minor Erdtrees, faithful dead reborn into vegetal sentinels
The Erdtree Avatars
'Engraved golden garb. Worn by the guardians of the Minor Erdtrees. In accordance with an ancient pact with the Erdtree, it is said that their deaths led not to destruction, but instead to renewed, eternal life as guardians.' The Erdtree Avatars are the canon's quietest pact-creatures. Each Minor Erdtree across the Lands Between is guarded by a single Avatar, a woody, gold-engraved giant who, before death, was a faithful Erdtree pilgrim, and who in death was reborn as part of the very tree he tended. The pact is described in flat-clear terms : the worshipper's death led not to destruction but to a renewed, eternal life as a guardian.
'Skill of the avatars who protect Minor Erdtrees. Jump up high into the air and crash down on the ground ahead. The resulting pratfall sends golden shockwaves in all directions.' Their canonical attack is a leap-and-crash that sends shockwaves of stored Erdtree-grace across the ground. The Tarnished may slay an Avatar to receive a Crystal Tear, the small distillates that fall at the feet of each Minor Erdtree, and which the Tarnished mixes at every Site of Grace into the Flask of Wondrous Physick. Each of these tears is, in canonical terms, a tear of an Erdtree mourning the avatar's second death. The Avatars whose backs bloom with red flowers, Full Bloom variants, are the ones whose pact has begun to fail. Their flesh is becoming wood at speed.
Engraved golden garb. Worn by the guardians of the Minor Erdtrees. In accordance with an ancient pact with the Erdtree, it is said that their deaths led not to destruction, but instead to renewed, eternal life as guardians.
This Ash of War grants an armament the Sacred affinity and the following skill: "Golden Slam: Skill of the avatars who protect Minor Erdtrees. Jump up high into the air and crash down on the ground ahead. The resulting pratfall sends golden shockwaves in all directions." Usable on all melee armaments.
