The Living Jars

Vessels of warriors, shamans, and Iron Fist Alexander

'A fragment of a living jar, hardened after its death. Material used for crafting items. Such fragments command a high price due to the magical power locked within.' The Living Jars are the strangest of the canon's sentient lineages : ceramic urns, sealed by ritual, containing the body parts and souls of warriors slain in battle. Their priesthood are the Jar Shamans, who wear their own faces concealed by upturned greatjars and tend the urns at gaols and ruined temples. A jar walks because the spirits inside still want to. Some are servants, some are soldiers, and some, Iron Fist Alexander, Diallos, Jar Bairn, are heroes whose questlines run beside the Tarnished's own.

'A greatjar which fits comfortably over the head when upturned. Attire of the shamans who perform their worship at gaols. Increases the power of thrown pots of all kinds.' The largest of them, the Great Jar, sits in the Caelid wastes and tests Tarnished champions in three duels : answer his summon and survive, and he gives an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone in approval. The Soldjars of Fortune Ashes, 'spirits of three little living jars', confirm what the lore everywhere implies : a jar's contents are never empty, and the ash that flakes off them when they shatter is always the ash of someone whose name was forgotten before the jar was sealed.
