The Soldjars of Fortune

Reckless little living-jars who self-detonate to defend their summoner

'A fragment of a living jar, hardened after its death. Material used for crafting items. Such fragments command a high price due to the magical power locked within. This leaves the living jars unfortunate targets for poachers.' The Soldjars of Fortune are the canon's smallest, fiercest jar-warriors, children, in pottery terms, of the Jarburg lineage that produced Iron Fist Alexander and Jar Bairn. They are little, reckless, fearless, and they explode on contact with fire. Their hardened-after-death shards trade for high prices because the magical residue is genuine and the supply is limited by the rate at which the small jars allow themselves to be slain.

'Ashen remains in which spirits yet dwell. Use to summon the spirits of three little living jars. Summoning consumes HP rather than FP. These reckless spirits sacrifice themselves to vanquish their summoner\'s foes, and explode upon death. Though their bravery is admirable, their explosions can harm friend as well as foe, and they will also immediately explode on contact with fire. "Tell the others—tell them how brightly a fire jar burns."' Their canonical farewell-line is the order's whole ethos in nine words : tell the others, tell them how brightly a fire jar burns. The Tarnished may summon them as a Spirit Ash, paying the cost in HP rather than FP. Three of them appear at once. They explode at the first opportunity. The exchange, three jar-children's lives for one boss-fight's worth of damage, is the canon's quietest meditation on what a small life trades for a useful death.
