The Golden Seeds are the Erdtree's last canonical act of mercy. At the moment of the Shattering, when Marika brought down her hammer on the Elden Ring and the realm's ordering fragmented across the demigods, the Erdtree itself shed its golden seeds across the Lands Between in a single involuntary distribution. The flavour text describes the act with the Order's customary euphemism : as if life itself knew that its end had come.

'A relic of the physick chemists, priests of the Erdtree. Harnesses the powers of crystal tears, which only form after the passage of many moons. Various special effects are bestowed upon the drinker, dependent on the specific mixture of crystal tears. Rest at a site of grace to replenish. Basins are placed at the feet of Minor Erdtrees throughout the Lands Between in order to collect their crystallized tears.' Each seed grew, over the long generation since the Shattering, into a Minor Erdtree, a small reflective image of the parent, bearing fewer leaves and a single Crystal Tear at its base. The Tarnished collects the seeds to upgrade the Sacred Flask, and the tears to mix the Wondrous Physick. The whole infrastructure of healing in the Tarnished's pilgrimage is a system the dying Erdtree planned in its last moment, scattered in advance, addressed to no one in particular except whoever might one day return.
