◈ NPC

Gatekeeper Gostoc

Lying castellan of Stormveil, opportunist of Godrick's twilight

'Gatekeeper Gostoc's bell bearing, found upon his perished flesh. Offer to the Twin Maiden Husks at the Roundtable Hold to gain access to new items.' Gostoc is the gatekeeper at Stormveil's lower entrance, a hunched, deferential figure who greets the Tarnished with a smile and a warning. He routes them through corridors he claims are safer, where they are routinely ambushed by knights and traps. When the Tarnished slays each ambusher, Gostoc materialises, picks the dead clean, and offers the Tarnished half of what he stole. His smile never changes through the negotiation.

'A tall, medium-sized wooden shield. Light for its size, and easy to handle. Adorned with a long-forgotten crest of Stormveil, ancient in design.' Stormveil is older than Godrick. Its crest predates the Grafted Lord by ages, the castle was a Storm Hawk seat, then Godfrey's, then the Banished Knights', then a feudal fragment shored up by a feeble demigod stitching limbs onto his own. Gostoc serves whoever holds the gate ; he survived each transition because he never had a side. When the Tarnished slays Godrick, Gostoc opens the throne-room door and bows. If the Tarnished returns later, he is dead in the pantry, robbed, in turn, by someone who learned from him.
