Lord of Stormveil · Diluted Lineage

Godrick the Grafted
"He he he he he... My sincerest gratitude. I thought I'd never wrench that thing open. You're the finest customer a man ever had!"
Boss Fight
Godrick the Grafted is a demigod of diluted blood, a distant cousin of Marika, last scion of Godfrey's lineage, his divine blood so diluted that Enia describes him as "the most lowly of all demigods, the runt of the litter, his divine blood sorely diluted." To compensate for this genetic inferiority, Godrick developed a monstrous obsession with grafting: he harvested limbs from creatures and fallen warriors to graft them onto his own body, attempting to claim their strength. Stormveil Castle, his domain on the Limgrave cliffs, was populated with his Chrysalids, grafting victims living as hybrid creatures, the fate that all of Roderika's companions suffered.
His cowardice is documented by Kenneth Haight: "First he hid among the women to flee the capital, then hid from Radahn in that castle... He insulted Malenia, lost to her in combat, and chose to lick her boots rather than die honorably." His motto, repeated in boss dialogue and sung by his soldiers, reveals pathetic nostalgia: "One day, we'll return together, to our home, bathed in rays of gold." In Phase 2 of his boss fight, he tore off and grafted a dragon's arm onto himself in a desperate bid for more power. Gostoc (Stormveil's gatekeeper) routinely betrayed arriving Tarnished by guiding them into traps, and after Godrick's death, stomps and spits on his corpse. The Remembrance of the Grafted: "A feeble man who sought power through the grotesque act of grafting." The Grafted Blade Greatsword is forged from multiple weapons and limbs, art of war in the image of its creator.

Latenna the Albinauric (Dialogue)
White Mask Varré (Dialogue)Look down, on me, would you? Godrick? You filthy slug. Feel it! This weasel was... Godrick was always looking down on me. He got what he bloody deserved, thanks to you. I tell you though, what goes around comes around.
Gatekeeper Gostoc (Dialogue)I'm off to Stormveil Castle. Lord Godrick has kept busy with his grafting... Slicing off arms like harvesting ears of wheat. He's run up a mighty debt in blood. I was thinking... Godrick must have an idea. About the vengeance sought by General Radahn, to whom I swore my oath. ...Yes, Godrick's corpse will know what to do... Godrick must know. That of all the grudges born of the Shattering, Malenia the Rotted is the object of the most profound. Ahh, my head is throbbing, everything is bright red...
Ah, there's a face I've not seen before. I'm Edgar❞, warden of this castle as ordained by Lord Godrick himself. But you can see how things have turned out. The menials have all rebelled. What was the purpose of such folly? Please forgive me, Lord Godrick. No, not here, not yet… Forgive me, Iri…na… Ugh! What's the matter?
Shabriri (Dialogue)Hmph, yes, now allow me to furnish you with a little advice. I would take great care to avoid Godrick's Tarnished hunts, were I in your shoes. That depraved lot are obsessed with sacrificing Tarnished like you for the sake of "grafting". Honestly, Godrick's nothing more than a jumped up country bumpkin. Lord? Don't make me laugh. One must be found, with haste. And not that awful Godrick. But a true and stalwart Lord of the proper lineage to take the reigns of Limgrave. I am sorry to have lifted your hopes...
Dung Eater (Dialogue)
Sorcerer Thops (Dialogue)Tarnished, are you? Clearly not one of Godrick's lot. I am Nepheli Loux. Tarnished and warrior, like you. How utterly repellant this is. This "grafting" of Godrick's ill befits a Lord. He's tainted the very winds. If you intend to challenge Godrick, I ask you call upon me. The winds run foul with his deeds. I'm certain father would permit me aid the fight. I have something for you. I found it in Godrick's grafting grounds. You defeated him. You should have it. You were the one to defeat him, I would hazard? Make good use of it.
