Shards of the Elden Ring, taken by the demigods at the Shattering

The Great Runes
When Marika shattered the Elden Ring, its constellation broke into a handful of major fragments and many minor ones. The major fragments became Great Runes, each carrying a portion of the Order's law. Great Runes are the stuff of demigods, the children of the goddess, Queen Marika, and her offspring claimed the shards: Godrick at Stormveil, Rennala at Raya Lucaria, Radahn in Caelid, Rykard at Volcano Manor, Mohg at Mohgwyn Palace, Morgott on Leyndell's throne, Malenia in the Haligtree.
The Great Runes received by defeating shardbearers have lost their beneficial power; that power can be restored at Divine Towers, and only a restored rune can be equipped. A Rune Arc gives even greater benefits to an equipped Great Rune. Miquella's own Great Rune was relinquished by his hand, broken and bereft of bounty, it retains naught but the power to resist charms.
