Leyndell, Royal Capital

Seat of the Golden Order · Morgott's Domain

Leyndell is the capital of the Golden Order, built at the base of the Erdtree, a golden city governed by Marika's Order. Surrounded by massive walls, statues of Godfrey, and architecture entirely of gold and white marble reflecting the Erdtree's light, it stands as the physical embodiment of the Order's power. At its heart lies the Elden Throne, the seat of the Elden Lord, now empty since Marika's disappearance. The city was attacked twice during the Shattering: the First and Second Defense of Leyndell, both documented by Historical Monuments. Morgott defended it alone, stacking the bodies of heroes high. The Ashen Capital (post-Erdtree-burning) is Leyndell covered in golden ash, the ash of the burned Erdtree, with all inhabitants gone. Its sewers (Subterranean Shunning-Grounds) hide the chained Omens, the imprisoned Dung Eater, and ultimately the Forsaken Depths where the Three Fingers reside. The Two Fingers' tower in Leyndell is where Ranni and other Empyreans were evaluated. The Queen's Bedchamber preserves traces of Marika's life. The underground passage from Stormveil Castle to Stormgate connects Leyndell to the wider Lands Between via routes that predate the Shattering.

NPC DialogueDung Eater (Dialogue)
Gelmir. Morgott the Grace-Given, Veiled Monarch and Lord of Leyndell. And Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon, ruler of Raya Lucaria's Academy. ...You'll still be after more Great Runes, won't you? So. Marking himself as an enemy, never to be forgiven. Morgott the Grace-Given is Lord of Leyndell, the capital city. It lies at the foot of the Erdtree, in the east of the Altus Plateau. But the Two Fingers forbid us from venturing there. Make the journey. To the capital Leyndell, that lies to the east of the Altus Plateau, at the foot of the Erdtree. The Two Fingers will deny your passage no longer. You may be our best hope. And we must answer the call of grace. Journey to the capital Leyndell, to the east of the Altus Plateau, at the foot of the Erdtree. Though I doubt he much resembles his former self anymore...
