Mt. Gelmir

Volcanic spine, prison of the Lord of Blasphemy

Mt. Gelmir is a great volcanic mountain that rises west of the Altus Plateau, a black cone whose flanks are forever broken by lava and ash. The mountain was once a holy place of the Fire Monks, a faith whose god was a flame older than the Erdtree's grace; their seminary at the southern slope still burns with rituals no Erdtree priest would countenance. Above their seminary stands Volcano Manor, the seat of Lord Rykard, where Tanith and the recusants gather those who have abandoned the Greater Will.

At the mountain's summit, half-fallen into a crater of magma, broods a colossal head of stone: the Magma Wyrm Makar, an ancient dragon whose body is geology made flesh. The Twin Husks of the manor and the Iron Maidens that guard its corridors were forged in the magma below, and the Great Rune of Rykard was relinquished here when the demigod chose the serpent over the throne.
