Magnus the Beast Claw

DLC bestial pugilist channelling the horned-warrior technique

'Weapon in the form of a carnivorous beast's vicious claws. Used to perform bestial slashing attacks uncanny to humankind. An imitation of the esoteric technique of the horned warriors. Those who carry this weapon wield it as though they have been possessed by a savage beast.' Magnus is the Realm of Shadow's pugilist-saint of the bestial path. The Beast Claws he wears on his hands are not weapons forged for him but a form he has put on : the canonical detail is that those who carry them wield them as though they have been possessed by a savage beast. Magnus has held the form long enough that the seam between man and possession is no longer visible from outside.

'Superior incantation taught by Gurranq, the Beast Clergyman. Long ago, Gurranq was a beast of such terrifying ferocity that his former name meant "Death of the Demigods."' Gurranq's fore-life, Death of the Demigods, is the doctrinal model. The horned warriors of the Realm of Shadow's deepest cults practiced an esoteric beast-form technique that the Erdtree's later inquisitors classified as madness ; Magnus practices its unbroken continuation. He does not speak, in the canon's record. He does not name what god the technique invokes. He simply fights, claw-and-leap, and dies in the same brief silence in which he lived.
