Moonveil is the canon's quiet bridge between the Land of Reeds and Sellia, Town of Sorcery. The blade-shape is a katana, uchigatana proportions, single-edge, drawn-from-sheath discipline, but the steel is glintstone: the masterpiece of an unnamed Sellian swordsmith, perhaps inspired by the blades of the Land of Reeds, though the canon never says. The skill is Transient Moonlight: a sheath-draw that fires a wave of light. Of Sellia's sorcerers, the canon records that they were assassins said to hunt their own fellows; which hand among them forged Moonveil, it does not record.

The Tarnished encounters Moonveil as a drop from the Magma Wyrm boss in the Gael Tunnel, a creature whose lava-carved hunting ground would never have hosted a katana naturally. How the wyrm came by it, the game never says; perhaps from a Sellian who wandered too far. Two cultures meet in this single weapon: the Land of Reeds gave the blade-form, Sellia gave the moonlight, and the Magma Wyrm gave the resting place. By the time the Tarnished claims it, Moonveil is an orphaned object, its smith unnamed, Sellia drowned in scarlet rot, the wyrm itself slain. The light it sheds is what survives.
