Yura was a samurai of the Land of Reeds, a master of the iaijutsu sword-draw and a hunter of Bloody Fingers, the cult of Mohg's worshippers who pursue invasion of other Tarnished as sacrament. He travels the Lands Between with a half-broken katana, refusing food, drink, and sleep until he can lay each Bloody Finger to rest. The Tarnished may meet him outside Murkwater Cave, then again at the Second Church of Marika.
His arc ends in possession. The malevolent spirit Shabriri, hated of all the world, reaches Yura through his sword's curse and takes his body. The Yura the Tarnished meets at Mountaintops is no longer Yura : Shabriri wears his face and speaks with his voice. The original Yura's last act is to leave his katana, Nagakiba, planted in the ground for the Tarnished to find, a final transmission of the technique that lets one warrior cut another's connection to evil.
