The Land of Reeds is the most thoroughly attested foreign nation in the Lands Between's canon and the only one whose entire culture the Tarnished can wear and wield. The Land of Reeds Armor (Altered) flavour text gives the country's recent history in three sentences : 'The Land of Reeds has long been locked in a miserable civil war, during which time it has remained alienated from the cultures of its neighbors. Little wonder that the entire nation has succumbed to blood-soaked madness, or so it is said.' Its weapons, Uchigatana katanas, Nagakiba long-blades, Eleonora's Poleblade, and its arts, Unsheathe, Seppuku, Piercing Fang, comprise the canon's only formalised swordsman tradition with a national origin.

Its diaspora to the Lands Between produced its three most visible exiles. Yura, the Bloody Finger Hunter who hides his origin under the name Shabriri's Ronin and 'kept a woman in the deepest reaches of his heart.' Eleonora, whose mastery of the sword 'was likened to a whirlwind' before her legacy was 'staunched in flame.' And Okina, the wandering swordsman whose Rivers of Blood Mohg first felt and then claimed. Three Land-of-Reeds blades, three different fates the Lands Between offered an exile, one a hunter, one a Bloody Finger, one a demon. The civil war that drove them out is, the canon implies, still on.
