Shabriri's Woe records the sentence passed on him: the man named Shabriri 'had his eyes gouged out as punishment for the crime of slander, and, with time, the blight of the flame of frenzy came to dwell in the empty sockets.' The grammar there is passive and the timing is slow; the blight comes to dwell. An item-help line calls that same face 'the crazed likeness of a noble whose eyes have been gouged out.' Howl of Shabriri calls him 'the most reviled man in all history' and says 'the sickness of the flame of frenzy began with Shabriri', which puts the corruption's beginning in him rather than upon him. The game does not say where he came from.

He greets the Tarnished with 'I fear that you were previously acquainted with this vessel', then 'As for his flesh, he gave it to me, Shabriri.' The vessel is Yura, hunter of Bloody Fingers, who 'kept a woman in the deepest reaches of his heart'; the Ronin gear is 'Armor of the man who calls himself Shabriri.' A Shabriri Grape is 'a yellowing, oozing eyeball of the infirm', likened to an overly-ripe grape, and Hyetta eats them until she understands 'the reason why it was eyes I had to eat.' What he offers the Tarnished sounds like mercy, 'Spare the poor girl, and singe your own flesh in her stead', before he names its end: 'Burn the Erdtree to the ground, and incinerate all that divides and distinguishes.' Shabriri's Woe is a talisman bearing that likeness, and it 'constantly attracts enemies' aggression.'
