The Frenzied Flame Village

Yelough Anix, the village of the sick south of the Grand Lift

The Frenzied Flame Village, Yelough Anix in the older naming, is one of the smallest cult-sites in the Lands Between, a cluster of huts on the cold plateau south of the Grand Lift of Dectus. The Note: Frenzied Flame Village is the canon's clearest geographic marker for it : 'South of the Grand Lift of Dectus lies the Frenzied Flame Village, inhabited by the sick. Stay well away.' The note is sold by a nomadic merchant for runes, the same merchant who sells most of the Lands Between's quietest secrets. The merchant's professional advice, 'stay well away', is the canon's simplest warning.

What dwells there is a cult older than Shabriri and quieter than the cult sealed beneath Leyndell. The Yelough villagers, blind and yellow-eyed, are early hosts of the Three Fingers, every one a host who, in the older era, attempted to control the flame of frenzy and 'succumbed to madness after a desperate internal struggle' (Frenzied Burst's flavour text). They survive only because the Frenzied Flame chose not to consume them all the way through. The Howl of Shabriri spreading from this village is the cult's last surviving incantation, the same howl that 'began with Shabriri, the most reviled man in all history', the man whose eyes were gouged out and whose madness took root in the village his kind founded.
