The Numen
The Numen are an outer people who came to the Lands Between in a forgotten migration. They live unnaturally long, are rarely born, and bear strange names that do not belong to the tongue of the Erdtree. Marika herself is Numen, and so is her brother Maliketh, her daughters Melina and Ranni, all of her closest line. The Numen mausoleums scattered through the Lands Between are family crypts of her vanished people, and the giant horned women called Erdtree Avatars are said to be Numen who took monstrous form in service of the Erdtree's roots.
What the Numen worshipped before the Greater Will, no scripture says. They are mistrusted by the people of the Erdtree, and many were buried in unmarked graves. But the bloodline survives: every demigod who carries Marika's blood carries Numen blood, and their long-livedness is what made them, for good or ill, the architects of the new world.
Grace that dwells within the inhabitants of the Lands Between; the lingering residue of gold. The Numen are said to have come from outside the Lands Between, and are in fact of the same stock as Queen Marika herself.
Armor worn by headless knights who endlessly guard the Wandering Mausoleum. The wing-shaped ornaments on its back evoke the Deathbird. A self-inflicted curse that ties the spirits of these loyal knights to the land, having willingly beheaded themselves so that they may serve their masters in death.
