◈ NPCRya the Scout
Volcano Manor's friendly recruiter, secretly a serpent of Rykard's brood

Rya the Scout
'Letter given by Rya as thanks for retrieving her necklace. Contains an invitation to Volcano Manor. "Brave Tarnished, Seek the Altus Plateau in the realm of the Erdtree. Prove yourself by making this journey, and the Volcano Manor will fully extend its invitation. To fight, amongst a family of champions."' Rya is the Volcano Manor's friendliest face, a small, well-dressed scout posted on a Liurnian shoreline, asking passers-by to retrieve a snake-shaped necklace stolen from her by hooligans. The necklace is the canonical detail. When the Tarnished returns it, she gifts the formal invitation to the Manor, where Tanith waits to extend her family of champions.
'Disturbing likeness of a woman whose skin was flayed. She smiles with a serene tenderness. Increases damage taken. It is said that this woman, named Daedica, indulged in every form of adultery and wicked pleasure imaginable, giving birth to a myriad of grotesque children.' Rya's later confession is that her courteous human form is a lent body, a serpent of Rykard's brood, one of Daedica's grotesque progeny, who took human shape to keep watch on the surface for the Manor. The necklace is what holds the form together. When Rykard is slain by the Tarnished, the binding loosens ; Rya finds the Tarnished in the dungeon, asks to be allowed to die in her true form, and the snake she has always been emerges from the noble who served them tea. The canonical kindness is in the small ask, to be witnessed dying as oneself, not as the disguise that made her useful.
