◈ SHADOW-BOUNDBlaidd, the Half-Wolf
Ranni's shadow, sworn to serve no master but the witch who broke her chain

Blaidd, the Half-Wolf
'Well-worn black armor of the man-wolf Blaidd. The pelt serves as a cape, protecting from cold. Blaidd was the blade of Ranni, but the cold bothered him anyway.' Blaidd is a wolf-headed warrior of unknown breeding, born of the Greater Will's old practice of giving each Empyrean a shadow-bound enforcer. He was made for Ranni in the same way Maliketh was made for Marika : a creature whose entire purpose was to ensure his charge could never escape her destiny. Ranni's destiny was to become a god of the Erdtree's coming choosing. Blaidd's office was to kill her if she refused.
'Greatsword decorated in royal Carian style. Favored weapon of Blaidd the Half-Wolf. In defiance of the fate he was born to, Blaidd swore to serve no master but Ranni.' Ranni broke the Greater Will's binding on the Night of the Black Knives. Blaidd, faced with the choice the Greater Will had built him to make, refused : he chose the witch over the god, and his fate-shadow turned. The trauma never healed. By the canon's late stages Blaidd is mad, his beast-half eating his man-half, and Ranni's questline asks the Tarnished to fight him in a sealed evergaol where he begs to be killed. He dies asking forgiveness for his madness, faithful to the witch he was made to murder.
