◈ NPCCastellan Edgar
Father of Irina, broken survivor of Castle Morne, grief-maddened revenger

Castellan Edgar
'The siege of Castle Morne A lone hero fights for his vengeance Only to fall at the hand of Lord Godfrey.' The Historical Monument at Castle Morne records a single ancient siege, a lone hero who fought for his vengeance, only to fall at the hand of Lord Godfrey. The recent revolt reads as its echo: the Misbegotten of Morne rose against their human keepers, slaughtered the household, and left Castellan Edgar, a soft-spoken old man, alive at his post: he had secreted his daughter Irina out of the castle and stayed behind, bound by his duty as commander.
'The storied sword of Castle Morne. A revenger's weapon, it is burdened with oceans of anger and regret. One of the legendary armaments. A lone surviving champion from a country now vanished was so determined to continue fighting that he claimed the swords of an entire clan of warriors.' Edgar finds Irina's body on the road north, slain by unknown hands, the 'foul wretches' he swears to hunt down and exterminate, and the second part of the canon begins. His duty at Morne discharged, the Tarnished having kept the storied sword from the fallen creatures, he leaves his post and turns invader. Armoured in his own grief, he descends on the worlds of Tarnished he has never met, convinced that each of them 'had a hand in Irina's undoing', and dies at last in a duel with one of them. The lone surviving champion of a country now vanished was always Edgar's mirror, though the storied sword itself passed to the Tarnished, not to him.
