Stones fall outward in slow motion ; a single lightning-strike rings on for centuries. The Dragonlord Placidusax sleeps at its lowest point, half-fossilized, his five necks curling around a faded Elden Ring of an older god. He sleeps because waking would mean noticing his god has gone, and he refuses to notice.

When Marika's Erdtree is set alight by Melina's sacrifice, the Tarnished is brought to Farum Azula by a great wind, to slay Maliketh and break the seal on the Rune of Death. Farum Azula crumbles inward as the Rune is freed. The end of an old god's protection rains down stone and serpent on the new gods below.
