◈ ORDER

The Beastmen of Farum Azula

Pre-Erdtree warrior order, sworn to the Dragonlord

Farum Azula is the great ruined city that floats above the Lands Between in a perpetual storm, the seat, in an age before the Erdtree, of Dragonlord Placidusax. Its inhabitants are the Beastmen, a humanoid order who worship the ancient dragons not as gods of lightning (that is a later, Capital interpretation) but as the rightful kings of the world. Their armour is bone-plate and ribboned cloth; their weapons curved scimitars and crescent moons; their stances mimic the postures of dragons coiled in flight. They are the survivors of an age when the Greater Will had not yet stooped to choose a god from among the living.

When Marika rose and the Erdtree's grace fell across the Lands Between, Farum Azula was raised into the sky and time slowed within its walls : the Beastmen there continue their patrols as if the world below had not changed. Maliketh keeps the city as his hidden vault, Destined Death is sealed inside the Black Blade he carries, and the Beastmen are its outermost wardens. The Tarnished, sent there by Melina to slay Maliketh and unbind Death, walks the same parapets Placidusax once walked, past Beastmen who do not yet know their lord is gone.
