The Dragon Communion Priestess

Ancient dragon who took on feeble flesh to aid in Bayle's destruction

'The stone heart of a Dragon Communion priestess. Use while disrobed to turn one's human flesh into an ancient dragon. The change cannot be undone except by death.' The priestess of that rite was herself an ancient dragon, one who stepped down out of that form and into mortal flesh. The Priestess Heart description names her sacrifice without softening: 'The priestess was once an ancient dragon herself, but sacrificed that form for feeble flesh to aid in the destruction of Bayle the Dread.' Her ashen remains give the same act a name and a second reason: 'Long ago, Florissax assumed human form to share Dragon Communion with the world. Now, she has acquired a human heart.' The flesh she chose is called feeble in her own item text; the heart left of her is the relic of the dragon she renounced.

'Favor bestowed by the Dragon Communion priestess in the name of the dragon lord Placidusax.' Her devotion is recorded in the Ancient Dragon's Blessing: 'Each night, the priestess offers her own sleep to her lord, and in turn receives the power of His favor.' She does not sleep so that Placidusax, dying at the heart of Crumbling Farum Azula, may. Her chosen weapon, the Flowerstone Gavel, is a dragonstone hammer resembling an ancient flower, its four petals and its core all sharp and ending in points, 'capable of dealing heavy damage to dragons,' wielded by one who was a dragon. Bayle, whose challenge to the ancient Dragonlord 'ended in grievous mutual injury,' is the dread her sacrifice was meant to help destroy, and the rite she calls purest is the eating of his heart, gorged upon at the Grand Altar of Dragon Communion. Her remains are ashen, and the spirit in them still serves: 'Florissax assumed this spirit form to offer her service to a new lord.'
