The Gloam-Eyed Queen led the apostles, and it is said that she was an Empyrean chosen by the Fingers: the same standing Marika held, and the same that Miquella and Malenia would inherit. The apostles were all embraced by her, and the black flame was their armour within. That flame is not theirs by right; it is channelled from her own sacred sword, the blade of a queen who controlled them. One item speaks of her in the present tense, as though the scene had never ended: the Gloam-Eyed Queen cradles newborn apostles swaddled in this cloth, and soon they will grow to become the death of the gods.

The game gives her no chronicle, no reign and no ending. It gives her a defeat. The Godslayer's Greatsword names her the Dusk-Eyed Queen who controlled the Godskin Apostles before her defeat at the hands of Maliketh; the apostles' own bracelets name that defeat as the reason their power is gone, for they were once said to serve Destined Death and to wield the god-slaying black flame, but after their defeat by Maliketh, the Black Blade, the source of their power was sealed away. When she ruled, whether she ruled at all, and what became of her afterwards: on all of it the game is silent, and that silence is the whole of what can honestly be said.
