Marika's Hammer
'Stone hammer made in the lands of the Numen, outside the Lands Between. The tool with which Queen Marika shattered the Elden Ring and Radagon attempted to repair it. The hammer partially broke upon shattering the Ring, becoming splintered with rune fragments.' Marika's Hammer is the canon's most consequential single object. It is a stone hammer, not a divine implement, made in the lands of the Numen, Marika's people, the ancient lineage that includes Tiche and Alecto and Yuna and the Black Knife conspiracy. Marika brought it with her when she ascended to the Erdtree and the godhood that the Greater Will offered. She used it, in her last act before being sealed inside the tree, to smash the Elden Ring.
'Warhammer wielded by Radagon. Forged in the age of gods, it harbors colossal magic power.' The hammer's second life is the canon's quietest paradox. After Marika's hammer-strike shattered the Ring, the same hammer was taken up by Radagon, Marika's other half, secretly her opposite-gendered self, to attempt the Ring's repair. The Tarnished encounters this hammer in the final battle, in Radagon's hands, swinging at them as the closing fight before the Elden Beast. The tool that broke the Order is the same tool that tries to mend it ; the wielder, in both cases, is the same person. The fight ends with the Tarnished slaying Radagon, taking up the hammer (in some sense), and using it on the Elden Ring's final repair. The Tarnished is the third hand to grip Marika's stone.
