Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame

The scholar who would not burn, sworn to a flame he refused

"Leave now..."

Chained in the Manse

"Enough... I have endured... more than enough... I ask you forgive me, dearest Nanaya... Ahhhhhh..."

Cutscene, the chains break

Midra was a hornsent scholar of the Manse, a quiet man given over to books and to his beloved wife Nanaya, the manse's lady. The Three Fingers found him through a stolen finger ruin he had been studying, and offered him their flame: an absolute madness that would burn the world to spare it pain. Midra refused. He held the doctrine inside himself for years without yielding, while the flame slowly consumed his body and ate the manse around him. His final stand was an act of restraint, not vengeance.

When the Tarnished reaches the Manse of the Hermit, Midra is bound to a chair by chains his wife has wrapped around him in love. He begs to be slain before the flame breaks his hold. Only after the Tarnished kills him does the seal collapse, and Midra rises in flame as the Lord of Frenzied Flame: not a willing apostle but a victim crowned by a doctrine he spent his life keeping in. His remembrance is the bittersweet trophy of a saint who failed.
