Beasts of the Crucible, born without grace

The Misbegotten
The Misbegotten are creatures born of the Crucible, the primordial state of life from which the Erdtree itself sprouted. Where the Erdtree's later order forbade mixed forms, the Crucible knew no such law: a Misbegotten can have a beast's head, a man's torso, the wings of a bird, the legs of a goat. Once they were called holy, and the Crucible Knights wielded their forms with pride.
Under the Golden Order, the Misbegotten were declared abominations. They were enslaved, made to work the marble quarries of Castle Morne, and treated as livestock by humans who had forgotten that the Erdtree itself drank from the same primal soil. The leader they rose up to follow, Edgar the Revenger, was the daughter of a knight who had befriended one of them. The world she failed to save still moves on without them.
A talisman fashioned from a scale that embodies the aspects of various creatures. Said to have grown on the human body long ago. Reduces damage taken from critical hits. A vestige of the crucible of primordial life. Born partially of devolution, it was considered a signifier of the divine in ancient times, but is now increasingly disdained as an impurity as civilization has advanced.
Shortbow wielded by Winged Misbegotten. Fine fur clings to it. Designed to inflict additional damage by sacrificing range.
