Loretta was first a Royal Carian Knight, one of the silver-armoured order anointed by Queen Rennala to defend the lake-province of Liurnia. The lapis-lazuli blue cape of her armour set is the emblem of the knightly pride that continues to guide her ; the war sickle she wields was originally a personal-guard's weapon for Carian royalty, and its blue glintstone has since been replaced with unalloyed gold. She mastered the Carian craft of magic greatbows : a single arrow at first (Loretta's Greatbow), and after long practice, four simultaneous arrows in flight (Loretta's Mastery), each capable of impaling a giant.

After the Shattering, Loretta took up a different oath. She set out alone, on what the item descriptions call 'a long, bloody journey to seek out a place where the Albinaurics could live in peace,' and concluded that the Haligtree, where Miquella was raising every outcast the Erdtree had spurned, was their best chance for eventual salvation. She joined Miquella's court and stood twice as guardian, once at Caria Manor in the Carian highlands, once at the gateway to the Haligtree itself, both times as the same Loretta, the silver-clad knight whose greatbow no army of giants ever crossed twice.
