Loretta was once a royal Carian knight. Her armour is silver, and her lapis-lazuli blue cape is named as the emblem of the knightly pride that continues to guide her. The intricately crafted silver war sickle she carries was originally given for service as a personal guard to Carian royalty, and its blue glintstone has since been replaced with unalloyed gold, the same metal that graces the crowns on the helms of soldiers sworn to the Haligtree. Her knightly name is attached to a skill, Loretta's Slash, a leap forward with the blade imbued with glintstone before a descending, accelerating sweep, and to a sorcery, Loretta's Greatbow, which creates a magic greatbow and fires a great arrow. Of that bow the text stays careful: 'It is said that the bow was Loretta's favored weapon.'

When she left Carian service, the game does not say. What it records is the journey: she 'went on a journey in search of a haven for Albinaurics, and determined that the Haligtree was their best chance for eventual salvation', a road its text calls 'long, bloody'. It was after that journey that she developed Loretta's Mastery, which creates a magic greatbow and fires four great arrows simultaneously; the game files that sorcery under the name 'Loretta, Knight of the Haligtree', where the single-arrow one is filed under 'Royal Knight Loretta'. Her shield of radiant silver, festooned with amber, imitates the shape of a sacred drop of dew, and that shape inspired the absurd rumour that Loretta herself was an Albinauric. She stands guardian at Caria Manor, and stands again under Miquella's tree, where the helm of a sworn foot soldier carries the question: 'Who is it that Miquella shall bless, if not the low and the meek?'
