◈ ORDER

The Carian Knights

Sword-sorcerers of the Lunar Queen, fewer than twenty in their prime

The Carian Knights are the sworn order of the Carian Royal House, anointed by Queen Rennala, taught at Raya Lucaria, and quartered around Caria Manor and Liurnia's lakeshore. What set them apart from the Erdtree's chivalry is that their swords were also catalysts. A blue glintstone is set into each Carian Knight's blade, allowing the bearer to cast Carian sorceries through the act of striking : a slash that summons a spectral greatsword, a thrust that lengthens into a piercing magic spear, a parry that turns into a comet. Despite numbering fewer than twenty in their prime, this gave them parity in the field with the Erdtree's golden champions.

After the Carian-Erdtree marriage and the long decline that followed, the order fractured. Some, like Moongrum, who still patrols Raya Lucaria, became tomb-keepers of a school no longer theirs. Some, like the Royal Knight Loretta, withdrew with Miquella to the Haligtree and were folded into a new order. Others vanished entirely, leaving only their armour in lakeside ruins. The Miquellan Knight's Sword, made for the Haligtree's order in deliberate imitation of theirs, has never been offered to any knight : an ill-starred sword with no master, the canon's quietest tribute to the order that fell with Caria.
