Frozen river to the Haligtree, the path taken by those unchosen

Consecrated Snowfield
The map of the Consecrated Snowfield describes a road rather than a home: 'The route through this land, crossed east to west by a frozen river, leads to Miquella's Haligtree. This is the path taken by those unchosen, though it is a trial all the same.' Who consecrated the field, and when, the game does not say. Latenna, arriving, greets it as 'great snow-laden lands' that 'stretch far to the north', and as 'the land of Miquella's Haligtree, where Lobo and I began our travels'. Entry turns on a medallion in two pieces: 'brandishing the medallion with both halves conjoined will activate the Grand Lift of Rold, granting access to a hidden path'. Old Albus, an Albinauric of the Village of the Albinaurics, where 'the cursemongers have destroyed everything', presses his half on the Tarnished: 'I beg you. Would you look after this medallion? You must keep it out of the cursemongers' hands.' Latenna, who confirms that 'old Albus entrusted his medallion to you', names where the other lies: 'beyond the forbidden lands north of the Erdtree', 'In Castle Sol, on the Mountaintops of the Giants, accessible by the Grand Lift of Rold.'
Where the road ends, the game is blunt about the outcome: though 'watered with Miquella's own blood since it was a sapling, the Haligtree ultimately failed to grow into an Erdtree'. The hope carried along this path is Albinauric. Old Albus spoke of 'a chosen land' awaiting his kind, of 'Miquella's city, far to the north, a place called Eburion, where we are conferred eternal grace', and called the medallion 'the key that leads to the city'. Loretta, once a royal Carian knight, 'went on a journey in search of a haven for Albinaurics, and determined that the Haligtree was their best chance for eventual salvation'. Across the snow ride the wolf-riding Albinauric archers, in chainmail crafted with blue silver, 'a metal born from the same mother as the archers themselves'. A Wandering Mausoleum stands here as well, kept by headless soldiers whose surcoat 'depicts the mausoleum bell, which rings in constant mourning for the soulless demigods'. A Death Rite Bird haunts the field; it carries the name of the Deathbirds, 'graveyard fire keepers' who 'rake out the ashen remains of the dead from their kilns', and the game does not say what joins them. Latenna traces the rest of the road: beyond 'the ancient bowers, and the liturgical town of Ordina', 'lies the place to which I must return'. The Black Knife Assassins met along it wear scale armor 'forged to make no sound', with a 'concealing veil, which muffles the sound of footsteps'; those who carried out the Night of the Black Knives 'were all women, and rumored to be Numen who had close ties with Marika herself'.
Right half of a split medallion depicting the Haligtree. Brandishing the medallion with both halves conjoined will activate the Grand Lift of Rold, granting access to a hidden path. In other words, this secret medallion will guide the bearer to the land of Miquella's Haligtree.
