Roderika's craft, calling spirits from chrysalides ground from corpses

The Spirit-Tuners
'A hooded cloak of vivid crimson. Worn by expatriated royalty. Increases vigor. Such cloaks were gifted to those who departed on journeys without specific orders, to faraway lands from which they would never be expected to return.' Roderika is a young Tarnished from the Manor in the Mountaintops, sent into the Lands Between as one of the company that was massacred at the gates of Stormveil ; the lord of Stormveil, Godrick, used her companions for his graftings. Roderika alone survived, traumatized into stillness. Her gift, slowly recovered through her questline, is the spirit-tuning craft : she can take the chrysalis of a slaughtered army (the residue of mass death stuck to a particular place) and cure it into a Spirit Ash, a permanent summon for the Tarnished who recovered the chrysalis.
The spirit-tuners are an old order of Hewg's bone-trade. Hewg the Roundtable smith is also a spirit-tuner ; he teaches Roderika once she has the courage to accept the role. The spirits of the slain do not rest unless someone tunes them : a spirit-tuner is, in effect, a priest who finishes a ceremony the dead never got to complete. By the canon's late stages, Roderika has become a master, calling forth Black Knife Tiche, the Mimic Tear, the Banished Knight Engvall, and the Ancestor Followers. Her work is the canon's quiet rebuttal to the Erdtree's purge of Death : the dead do not have to disappear ; they can come back, briefly, when called by name.

A bell capable of summoning various spirits from ashen remains. It usually requires FP to use. Spirits can only be summoned in the vicinity of a rebirth monument. When summoning is possible, the monument icon will be visible on the left side of the screen.
