The Alabaster Lords and the Onyx Lords are paired races of ancients, twinned in form and opposed in function. The Alabaster Lord's Sword and Onyx Lord's Greatsword descriptions tell their shared origin in identical words : 'a race of ancients with skin of stone who were said to have risen to life when a meteor struck long ago.' The meteor that birthed them is the same meteor that, much later, would carry Astel into the Eternal City and gravity-strike the Tarnished's path through Limgrave. Stone-flesh, meteoric ore, and the manipulation of gravity itself : these three are the three faces of one inheritance.

Their craft is gravitational. The Rock Sling and Gravity Well sorceries note that 'a gravitational technique studied by the young Radahn, his master was an Alabaster Lord with skin of stone.' Radahn, before he became Starscourge, learned to pull and to push from these old stone-folk ; his greatbow's arrows still arc with their gravity. The Alabaster Lords pull (their Pull skill creates a gravity well that draws enemies in), the Onyx Lords push (their Repulsion skill creates a well that flings enemies away). Between the two, the entire vocabulary of gravity sorcery in the Lands Between is theirs ; every Carian Slicer, every Rock Sling, is a quiet citation of an Alabaster Lord's lecture from long before Marika rose.
