The Fallingstar Beasts are not native to the Lands Between. They are creatures born of the same lightless dark beyond the stars from which Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, descended. They fall to ground as living meteors, dig themselves down into the earth, and stay there, slow, four-legged, gravity-warped, biting at any living thing that comes close. Their bodies are plated in the same hard, shining black as the jaw the canon describes. Their jaws crack stone.

'One of the glintstone sorceries that manipulates gravitational forces. Fires a projectile of condensed gravitational force. Those struck by it will be pulled toward the caster. Charging enhances potency.' The beasts are said to come from the lightless dark far beyond, though no item text says so in those words. Gravitational sorcery is the cross-cultural thread linking the meteor-races. The Alabaster and Onyx Lords are stone-bodied ancients who came down with one such meteor. The Fallingstar Beasts are still falling. Astel destroyed an Eternal City and took away their sky, many read it as the Greater Will's answer to the Nox's treason, though no text names who, if anyone, sent it. All of them point upward, at something the canon never names, the lightless dark that Azur saw and could not return from. The dark gives gravity, gravity gives power, and any sorcerer who studies long enough finds, like Azur did, that the dark is studying them back.
