The Ancient Heroes of Zamor are the long-lived warriors of a town that no longer appears on any map of the Lands Between. Cloaked in biting freezing winds, they are said to have been the mortal enemies of the Fire Giants since time immemorial, a pre-Erdtree feud between the lords of cold and the lords of flame. The Greater Will, when it commanded Marika's husband Godfrey to lead the War against the Giants, also blessed the knights of Zamor : their ice-tornadoes were the only sorcery that could cool the giants' forge-furnaces enough to bring the giants down.

The cost was that Zamor itself withered with its enemy. The town now stands ruined at the edge of the Mountaintops, and its surviving knights, masked, bent, and slow, wander the road as half-spirits. Their curved swords still freeze foes on contact; their masks still mark their old heroism. They are a quiet reminder that the same Greater Will that sanctioned the Erdtree's burning had, in an earlier age, sanctioned the burning of those who would later serve it.
