Its lord and people are gone, the king who held it has been dead for centuries. Only Commander Niall remains, propping up two summoned ghosts as bodyguards, defending an empty throne against an enemy that no longer exists. The cult of the Eclipsed Sun was always a heresy ; the Erdtree's golden order saw the sun in eclipse as a profane mirror of itself, the colour drained, the order inverted.

The Eclipse Crest is the same heraldry the Mausoleum Knights bear, and the Wandering Mausoleums themselves are believed to belong to demigods born without souls, the abandoned offspring of the Golden Order, hidden away from grace. Castle Sol is what their faith left behind : a strict, stoical warrior cult dedicated to defending the unloved heirs of Marika, even after the heirs themselves were forgotten. The Haligtree Secret Medallion's other half is hidden in the castle's chapel. Niall's death is the cost of asking after Miquella.
