The Mausoleum Knights are the order that walks beside the Wandering Mausoleums, the great walking tombs that drift across the Lands Between, carrying the soulless flesh of demigods toward an Erdtree burial denied them. Their armour is sealed at the neck where their heads should be : the knights themselves performed the beheading. The Mausoleum Knight Armor description states it plainly, 'a self-inflicted curse that ties the spirits of these loyal knights to the land, having willingly beheaded themselves so that they may serve their masters in death.' Without a head, they cannot be claimed by Destined Death; the body fights on.

On their backs are wing-shaped ornaments that evoke the Deathbird, the cult's older patron, and on their shields the Eclipse Crest, the eclipsed sun, drained of color, that protects soulless demigods. These two symbols mark the order's twin loyalties : to the funerary rite of the Deathbirds, who keep the dead in ghostflame, and to the demigods whose remembrances the Wandering Mausoleums shelter. They are the only order in the Lands Between whose members are the curse they enforce.
