Freyja is one of General Radahn's three most distinguished knights, the Redmane order whose golden armour and black mantles still mark them out across the Lands Between. Her armour, gauntlets, and greaves all repeat the same line : 'After witnessing Freyja's valor as a gladiator in his youth, Radahn invited her to join the ranks of his most trusted warriors.' She came to Caelid not as a noble-born but as a survivor of the colosseum, recognised by a young Radahn who would not become Starscourge for years yet.

Her face carries the canon's gentlest detail. The Freyja's Helm flavour text records what Miquella did for her in the Realm of Shadow : 'A hideous scarlet wound was once hewn into the center of her face. Later, Miquella gently put his lips to it and the unfading scar became the compass that Freyja would thereafter follow.' That kiss, given quietly, unwitnessed, is why Freyja, last of Radahn's loyal redmanes, walks beside Miquella in the Realm of Shadow at the end of the consort's vow. She is, by the time of the duel at the Promised Consort, one of the few mortals left who served both demigods at different points of the same lifetime, and she does not fight the Tarnished : she stands aside.
