Ansbach was the chief Pureblood Knight of Mohg's household, one of the first lords brought under the Lord of Blood's enchantment, and the only one who realised, slowly and with horror, that his loyalty had never been freely given. When Mohg's body was hijacked by Miquella's machinations, Ansbach refused to be charmed a second time. He pretended to accept the new lord and infiltrated Miquella's circle as a spy, gathering evidence of how the kindly god treats those he loves.

Ansbach is the rarest figure in the Realm of Shadow: a man who broke a charm by knowing that he had been charmed. He hands the Tarnished the proof of Miquella's manipulations and asks them to choose freely. If the Tarnished refuses Miquella, Ansbach fights at their side; if the Tarnished accepts Miquella, Leda kills him for what he knows.
