Needle Knight Leda

Needle Knight of Miquella, her blade still reeking of the cull of her own comrades

"I am Leda. And like you, I was guided by faith along his honourable path. I can wield my sword to cull the undeserving, those unfit to bask in Miquella the Kind's presence."

Sworn to Miquella's promise

The game does not say where Leda came from, or what she was before Miquella. She introduces herself by the road rather than by lineage: she was guided by faith along his honourable path, and she says the Tarnished was guided likewise. Her title is Needle Knight, and her armour carries the order's creed, that kindly Miquella fashioned them as his needles to quell all, to ward away all. The crossed-tree talismans conferred on those knights add that they served Miquella long ago and are no more, save for one. Her sword is a light greatsword inlaid with gold, polished to a mirror sheen and still reeking of crusted blood that lingers from the cull of her knightly comrades. Her needles come out of that blade: her skill Needle Piercer generates ten gold needles which pierce their target all at once, and she calls them the marrow of her sword, needles that will stitch a foe into death. Miquella gifted her gentle gold, to bring a soft hue to her faded eyes.

She states her condition plainly: insist upon facing Miquella the Kind, and she will run you through, whoever you might be. When she bars the way she names her company aloud, Needle Knight Leda, Dryleaf Dane, and their allies. The charm is no blind spot for her. She names it herself, saying the congregation drawn from places far and wide would have come to blows at first glance were it not for the charm kindly Miquella put upon them, and that this is what allows them to serve together. When the enchantment breaks she feels it, says so, and calls it a blessing in disguise: now she can wield her sword to cull the undeserving, those unfit to bask in Miquella's presence. She turns on the hornsent, then on Sir Ansbach, and welcomes the Tarnished who joins her at those killings. Even under the spell, she reasons, the hornsent withheld his full trust, because he recognised the scent of the killer that slept within her.
