◈ HIDDEN PERSONA

St. Trina

Miquella's purple-flame persona, saint of sleep, eternal kindness, oblivion

'Candlestand torch that burns with a light-purple flame. The carvings depict St. Trina, but in adult form, somewhat unnervingly. The light-purple flame induces sleep.' St. Trina is the canon's most ambiguous saint. By the time of the Tarnished, she is venerated quietly across the Lands Between as the saint of sleep, her purple flame induces dreamless rest, her arrows put even gods to slumber. The lore reveals her gradually : St. Trina is Miquella himself, his discarded female persona shed during his ascent toward divinity. She is the part of him that loved without strings, that wished only for cessation of pain, that was never going to make a god worth crowning.

'One of Seluvis's favorite puppets. Use to summon the spirit of Dolores the Sleeping Arrow Spirit of a handsome archer who dressed in the style of a man. Called the Silent Hunter by some, she fires St. Trina's arrows from her shortbow.' The DLC's Shadow of the Erdtree Land of Shadow surfaces St. Trina almost-incarnate : Miquella has stripped away his Trina-persona to enter Enir-Ilim and become god, but Trina lingers in a chapel of purple-flame braziers and asks the Tarnished to refuse to wake him. She knows what Miquella will be if he completes his ascent, a god of forced charm and erased free will, and she begs the Tarnished to kill him before that happens. The Promised Consort fight is, in St. Trina's view, the only good ending : kill the body of Miquella before he can wear it whole.
