'Lord of Frenzied Flame... I will seek you, as far as you may travel... To deliver you what is yours. Destined Death.' Melina's vow is the entire shape of this ending. To take the Three Fingers' brand, the Tarnished must descend to a sealed chamber under Leyndell, strip naked, and let the buried hands of an outer god seize them by the eyes. From that moment the Tarnished walks crowned in yellow fire; Hyetta, who introduces herself with 'my name is Hyetta, and I'm journeying in search of the distant light', walks that road with them. Melina abandons them and says she will hunt them to the end of the world to kill them. The Tarnished can still be a Lord. Just not Marika's.

What the ending itself says is short, and it is spoken to that lord: 'Lord of Frenzied Flame... I will seek you, as far as you may travel... To deliver you what is yours. Destined Death.' The cinematic is brief and clear: Erdtree burning, Lands cracking, eyes weeping fire. An unalloyed gold needle is 'capable of subduing the flame of frenzy if inherited, allowing one to cheat fate and avoid becoming Lord of Frenzied Flame' ; the one the game gives was 'removed by Millicent from her flesh', not handed over by Melina. Melina calls it chaos in as many words, 'it is chaos, devouring life and thought unending', and swears that should the Tarnished rise as the Lord of Chaos she will kill them. The card's own reading is that it works as a counter-Order, summoned into being by the Great Caravan when they were buried alive for heresy: a promise, kept in the marrow of the Tarnished's bones from now on, to end every fate by ending the world that holds them.
