The Forge of the Giants sits at the very northernmost crown of the Mountaintops, a vast crater-shaped pit ringed in ash and frozen iron. The Giants of old kept its fire alive, a flame older than the Erdtree, capable of consuming gold itself. After Marika led Godfrey's war and reduced the Giants to a single survivor, she sealed the Forge so that no living thing might rekindle it without a true sacrifice : a being who could choose, freely, to become the kindling.

Melina was born to be that kindling. Her purpose, given to her by Marika herself, was to one day come here in the company of an unrenowned Tarnished, climb to the brazier's lip, and walk willingly into the flame. The Tarnished kindles the Erdtree only after Melina has done so. The cinder of her body is what burns the great tree, and what releases Maliketh's seal on Destined Death. Without Melina, no ending of the Erdtree's law is possible.

A hammer made from a boulder, used in the War against the Giants. One of the heftiest weapons in the entire Lands Between. After the giants were quelled, and man turned against man in violence, this weapon was all but forgotten. Man has grown feeble in comparison to his forebears.
