Igon is the smallest figure of the Realm of Shadow's Dragon Communion arc and, by his own measure, its truest. The Igon's Armor description names him without flattery, 'broken drake warrior, from a set comprised of a miscellany of parts. Filthy belongings are attached to this tattered piece of protective-wear. The poor scavenger of battlefields found honor through Dragon Communion.' His armour is mismatched scrap, his helm is shaped like a bugle, his loincloth was stripped from a corpse. Everything he owns was taken from a dead man.

The vow he keeps is the vow no other dragon-warrior would. Bayle the Dread, the oldest and vilest of all dragons, broke Igon long ago, Igon's Cookbook entries call him 'a warrior who challenged the vile dragon Bayle, only to be grievously injured and broken by fear.' He could not finish the fight. So he climbed the Jagged Peak and waited. The Tarnished, who can finish what he could not, hears Igon's bellow before ever seeing the dragon : 'On the throbbing heart of the oldest, vilest dragon of them all… Scale the jagged peak. Face Bayle the Dread. And when you do, slay him in mine stead!' His vow becomes the Tarnished's, and the curse becomes a closing.
