The Legendary Armaments

Nine weapons of canonised history, each a story coded into steel

"Storied sword of House Marais, the family of executioners who presided over the Shaded Castle. One of the legendary armaments. Elemer of the Briar, the Bell Bearing Hunter, snatched the sword from the site of his looming execution, and furnished it with battle skills from his home of Eochaid."

From the Marais Executioner's Sword description

The Lands Between recognises a small, curated set of weapons as 'legendary armaments', nine in the base game, four more added by the DLC, each an artefact whose flavour text is also a chapter of canon. They are not, mechanically, the strongest weapons in the realm. They are the weapons whose history the Erdtree's archivists wrote down. The Bolt of Gransax records 'a great ancient dragon, Gransax once rained calamity upon the Royal Capital, the only time in historical record that Leyndell's walls have fallen.' The Dark Moon Greatsword preserves the Carian queens' wedding-rite : 'A Moon Greatsword, bestowed by a Carian queen upon her spouse to honor long-standing tradition. Ranni's sigil is a full moon, cold and leaden, and this sword is but a beam of its light.'

Three of them encode whole personal arcs. The Grafted Blade Greatsword from Castle Morne, 'A revenger's weapon, it is burdened with oceans of anger and regret', is Edgar's body. The Devourer's Scepter is Rykard's pre-cognition : 'Scepter in the shape of a serpent devouring the world. A vision of the future briefly seen by Rykard in his final moments before being devoured by the great serpent.' The Marais Executioner's Sword is Maleigh Marais's family heirloom, stolen by Elemer of the Briar from his own near-execution. The Golden Order Greatsword is the canon's quietest sentimental object, 'forged by King Consort Radagon to proudly symbolize the tenets of the Golden Order. Telltale signs betray that this was once the greatsword bequeathed to him by his first wife, Rennala.' Radagon, after divorcing Rennala for Marika, kept the sword.
