Rellana was a princess of Caria and the elder sister of Rennala, who left the academy of Raya Lucaria long before the Shattering to take service with Messmer in the Realm of Shadow. She forsook the moonlight sorceries of her house for a different study: the binding of two moons, one of darkness and one of magma, into a pair of swords. Where Rennala's daughters Ranni and Marigga remained on the bright side of Carian heritage, Rellana chose exile and a flame that the academy would never have countenanced.

She rose to command Castle Ensis, the gateway fortress of Belurat, and stood as one of Messmer's most loyal knights. The Tarnished encounters her at the castle's summit, where she fights with both swords drawn under twin moons of her own making. To slay her is to add the only piece of Carian sorcery the academy never recorded to one's possible spells.
