Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy
'Remembrance of Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy, hewn into the Erdtree. The power of its namesake can be unlocked by the Finger Reader. Alternatively, it can be used to gain a great bounty of runes. Rykard turned to blasphemy and was devoured by the great serpent.' Rykard is the eldest son of Rennala and Radagon, brother of Radahn and Ranni. After Radagon left their mother for Marika, Rykard renounced the Erdtree's Order and built a new one : Volcano Manor, on the slopes of Mt. Gelmir, with a Serpent God dwelling beneath it. The Serpent God is older than the Erdtree, an outer-god dwelling in molten chambers under the volcano. Rykard sought to defeat death by becoming the Serpent's instrument. He climbed into the Serpent's mouth willingly. The Serpent ate him. Rykard's mind survived inside its body.
'A Great Rune of the shardbearer Rykard. Its blessing restores HP upon defeating enemies. Rykard was amongst the children of Rennala and Radagon, who became demigod stepchildren after Radagon's union with Queen Marika.' Rykard now is a fused boss-creature : a serpent's body, Rykard's face among its scales, his hands and his sword still working from inside the throat. His Recusants, Tanith's order of Volcano Manor heretics, believe him to be the closest thing the Lands Between has to a true god of immortality. The Tarnished, defeating him, gains the Serpent-Hunter spear (a weapon the Serpent itself cannot endure) and Rykard's Great Rune (which restores HP on every kill, Rykard's last gift to whoever follows him). His remains, after the boss-fight, are eaten by Tanith.
