◈ DEATHBED COMPANIONFia, the Deathbed Companion
Widow-touched mourner who carries the Mending Rune of Death's restoration

Fia, the Deathbed Companion
'Arise now, ye Tarnished. Ye dead, who yet live. The call of long-lost grace speaks to us all. Hoarah Loux, chieftain of the badlands. The ever-brilliant Goldmask. Fia, the Deathbed Companion. The loathsome Dung Eater. And Sir Gideon Ofnir, the All-Knowing.' Fia is one of the canon's six lord-candidates explicitly named in the intro narration, and the only woman among them. She is a Deathbed Companion : a member of an old order that comforted the dying with their bodies, holding the dying close until the soul could leave. The Erdtree's institutional purification of Death drove the Companions out as heretics ; only Fia's clandestine practice in the Roundtable Hold's quiet wing remains. Anyone who lies down with her receives a Baldachin's Blessing, but loses HP for as long as the embrace endures.
'Greatsword decorated in royal Carian style. Favored weapon of Blaidd the Half-Wolf. In defiance of the fate he was born to, Blaidd swore to serve no master but Ranni.' Fia's questline binds her to the Prince of Death : she alone, among the Tarnished's allies, believes the Order can be mended only by accepting Death back into it. She seeks the body of Lichdragon Fortissax in the Deeproot Depths, lies down with the body of Godwyn-Prince-of-Death, and bears within herself a Mending Rune that the Tarnished can carry to the Elden Throne. Of all the endings, hers is the most ambiguous : the Order continues, but the world is now full of Death again. The dead can finally die.

Sorcery of Fia, the Deathbed Companion. Creates a deathly mist before the caster, which inflicts Death blight upon those who enter. This sorcery can be cast while in motion. Charging enhances range of the mist. This sorcery was developed to oppose the Roundtable Hold, and is effective only against those of the Hold.
