Fortissax was one of the Ancient Dragons, a contemporary of Godwyn the Golden, with whom he forged a unique friendship between dragons and men. The Historical Monument "Routing of the Ancient Dragons" specifies: "Godwyn the Golden fought until the very last, winning the friendship of the fearsome Fortissax." When Godwyn became the Prince of Death after the Night of the Black Knives, Fortissax voluntarily entered the Deeproot Depths to fight the Death consuming his companion, struggling "long and hard against the Death within him." The Remembrance of the Lichdragon: "Alas, the victory was never achieved and the only reward he received was corruption." Fortissax was corrupted by Death in the process, becoming the Lichdragon, an entity of Death and Lightning intertwined. The Fortissax boss fight takes place in a Deathbed Dream oniric space (accessible via Fia), suggesting this battle still unfolds within Godwyn's yet-active consciousness, Fortissax's fight against Death still ongoing. Inherited incantations (Fortissax's Lightning Spear, Death Lightning) blend draconic thunder with mortal rot, a synthesis of what he was and what he succumbed to.

Fortissax's Lightning SpearIncantation that channels the power of the ancient dragon Fortissax. Creates two spears of red lightning and stabs them into the ground from above, one after another. On impact, each spear will burst into trails of lightning covering the area. During the War of the Ancient Dragons, these twin red lightning stakes were the hallmark of one ancient dragon who was called the mightiest boulderstone.
Death LightningIncantation that channels the power of the ancient dragon Fortissax, now corrupted by Death. Strikes surroundings with a storm of Death lightning. Inflicts Death blight upon foes. Charging extends duration of the storm. It said that this golden lightning was wielded by Godwyn, who befriended Fortissax.
Honed BoltThis incantation can be cast repeatedly. Long ago, Godwyn the Golden defeated the ancient dragon Fortissax, and befriended his fallen foe—an event that gave rise to the ancient dragon cult in the capital.
Lansseax's GlaiveThis attack unleashes trails of lightning. Lansseax was the sister of Fortissax. It is said that she took the form of a human to commune with the knights as a priestess of the ancient dragon cult.
